What will happen in an eft session?

In the initial consultation I will ask you for information about why you wish to come for EFT and take a general history of your presenting issues. We will learn the tapping points together and if you are comfortable we may start tapping on your issue together. We will always go at your own pace when tapping. During tapping sessions you will mostly be tapping on yourself although at times, with your consent, I may tap on you. You may experience memories or other emotions coming to the surface. At the end of the session we will do some basic grounding techniques so that you do not leave the session in distress. 

What is EFT?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a technique that is used to help process difficult emotions and memories by ‘tapping’ into the body’s natural ability to heal itself. EFT has often been referred to as a form of acupuncture without needles. 

How does EFT work?

EFT works by tapping on specific meridian points on the face, torso and hands while focusing on a specific issue that is causing distress. When we are distressed our nervous system is engaged in the ‘fight or flight’ response and we may become anxious, depressed, feel unexplainable pain or be overwhelmed by emotion in this state. By focusing on our emotions while tapping on our meridian points, we activate the ‘rest and digest’ function of our nervous system allowing us to process difficult emotions, memories or unhelpful core beliefs we may be holding onto.
