The Reason I Jump

by: Naoki Higashida

The reason I jump by Naoki Higashida is a first-person account of a life lived by someone with autism. Through personal narrative Higashida shares their experiences with the reader which allows a unique insight into the autistic thought process. This book answers questions about behaviours that neurotypicals find perplexing with chapters such as ‘Why do you make a huge fuss over tiny mistakes?’ and ‘Why don’t you make eye contact when we’re talking?’. This is essential reading for anyone interested in autism. It is important to note that all expressions of autism are as unique as the people beneath the diagnosis, although they may share common traits. This post contains affiliate links.
