What is Mental health
Mental health is a phrase that describes how well you are managing emotionally during day to day life. Everyone has mental health and looking after it is as important as looking after yourself physically. Your state of mental well being can be affected by different aspects of your life including your level of physical health, social and economical circumstances and if you've survived a traumatic experience. Having poor mental health can impact many areas of your life and often determines how we handle stress, make choices, manage emotions and relate to others. It's never too late or too early to start looking after your mental health.
How Can Counselling Help?
Counselling is a form of talking therapy that you can use to work through issues and manage emotional distress. During therapy I will strive to provide you with a safe space where we can explore whatever you feel you need to bring to the session. I will not judge you during the session and I do not provide psychological assessments.
I offer a free one-hour initial consultation to provide you with the opportunity to decide if you would be comfortable working with me. During this appointment I will explain aspects of confidentiality and I may ask you questions about what you wish to achieve through attending therapy. At the end of the session we will make a decision about how we would like to proceed.
